The basic knowledge of natural stone(Ⅲ)

1. The timing to install the stone

After the ground is leveled, the threshold stone can be installed together with the floor tiles. The bay window can be installed before the wall is leveled to fill the gap without dirtying the wall. The steps can be installed after the floor tiles are installed. There will be no gap between the bricks and the steps. The decorative walls, bathroom countertops, and cabinet countertops depend on the progress of the decoration company's base work.

2. Stone installation precautions

(1) When installing light-colored stone, the owner needs to prepare white cement and river sand; ordinary cement can be used for dark-colored stone; if it is laid directly on the wooden base, the owner also needs to prepare glass glue;

(2) Door cut stones are best installed together with floor tiles, or they can be installed before installing door moldings. Window sills can be installed before applying the last coat of putty, and basins and stoves can be installed a little later;

(3) Stone is generally installed by the manufacturer.

The details are as follows

1. Floor stone installation:

When installing floor stone, pay attention to the glue net on the back of the stone; if the glue net is torn off, the stone is easy to break during construction and cement slurry water seeps out from the stone reinforcement surface, which looks like a fracture at first glance; if the glue net is not torn off, the metal knocks on the stone two days after construction, making a sound similar to a hollow drum.

Solution: If the glue net is tightly bonded to the back of the stone, it is recommended to directly construct without removing the glue net; if the glue net is loosely connected to the stone, it is recommended to remove the glue net for construction. If slurry water seeps out from the surface of the stone, it can be gently scraped off with a wallpaper blade after two days.

Construction precautions:

A Beige and white stone construction: black cement is used for the mortar mixture, and white cement is used for the back of the stone. Dark-colored stones all use black cement.

B The cement mixture is dry and hard cement mortar (just squeeze it into a ball), and 5mm thick pure cement mortar is used for the back of the stone; it is strictly forbidden to use the pouring method (sprinkling pure cement slurry water on the mixture).

C Before marble construction, layout, color and texture should be matched indoors. First determine the main parts with large areas, and then determine the secondary parts. Because natural stones have different colors and textures.

D Stone caulking: dark materials use black cement, light materials use white cement or white cement mixed with corresponding pigment powder. Do not use marble glue to caulk to prevent contamination of the board surface.

E After the stone is installed, mirror protection can be used to prevent erosion and corrosion by oil stains, acid and alkali liquids.

2. Wall stone installation

When installing stone on indoor walls, try to avoid grouting (except for dark stone), because this construction will cause the stone surface to have different shades of color due to different water absorption rates, and rust spots will appear on the surface of white materials.

Installation method of wall stone (for indoor use only):

A Use tile adhesive: scrape (zigzag) adhesive on the back of the stone or lay 5 points on the back of the stone, and stick the stone directly on the wall painted with cement mortar.

B If the wall base is a wood board, use stone AB glue (do not use marble glue) as the adhesive between the wood board and the stone, then groove the width of the stone, and use 18# copper wire to connect the stone with the self-tapping screws on the wood board.

C If the wall base is concrete or standard brick wall instead of porous bricks or aerated bricks, use a simple dry hanging method for construction.

3. Countertop Stone Installation

When installing the countertop, please note that the lower water retaining plate of the countertop cannot be fixed with glue, because the glue has a "lifespan" and is in contact with liquid for a long time. Once it fails, the lower water retaining plate is easy to fall off and hurt people.

Solution: A combination of glue and stainless steel hangers should be used. The weight of the lower water retaining plate should be mainly considered to be transferred to the steel frame by the hangers. After the countertop is installed, the stone and the basin must be sealed with weather-resistant glue to prevent the marble glue from failing under the action of water for a long time.
